REMODELED 2023
Originally built in 1900 to house railroad workers, the Allen House has been home to many throughout its long history, most recently serving as a Cal Poly fraternity house.
As a third-time client and friend, Karl enlisted the services of Ed and Andrew Goodwin to remodel the 16-bedroom home, including the addition of an attached 3-bedroom ADU. The goal was to both honor the home's history and ensure modern safety standards while creating a unique space for communal living.
The roof deck with skylights to the patio below illuminates the area with natural light, adding a delightful and distinctive feature. The communal kitchen boasts a chef’s stove with double ovens and two dishwashers, catering to the needs of a shared living environment.
